200 V peak reverse, 500 mA average — the fit decision
The MB2S-E3/80: The 200 V peak reverse voltage and 500 mA average rectified current are the two numbers that decide whether this bridge fits your low-voltage DC rail. A 200 V PRV gives comfortable headroom for a 120 VAC input — the rectified DC bus peaks around 170 V, so the margin is about 15 %. For 230 VAC applications the peak is roughly 325 V, which exceeds the 200 V rating; this part is not suitable there. The 500 mA average rating means this bridge is sized for auxiliary supplies, bias rails, or small-signal rectification — not a main power stage. Forward voltage is 1 V max at 400 mA, so conduction loss at full load is about 0.5 W, which the TO-269AA package can dissipate with standard PCB copper.
Package and board-fit — TO-269AA (MBS)
The MB2S-/80 comes in the TO-269AA surface-mount package, also designated MBS. It is a 4-pin small-outline package with a gull-wing lead form — the same footprint as the industry-standard MBS package used by multiple manufacturers. The 4-BESOP body is compact enough for dense layouts but still hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron if needed for prototyping. The upper limit means the part can run at full rated current in a 85 °C ambient without derating, as long as the PCB copper area is adequate.
