28 V zener for automotive and industrial clamping
The 1N5255B-TAP is a 28 V zener diode rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation, housed in a DO-35 (DO-204AH) axial-lead package. Its ±5% tolerance on the nominal voltage makes it a direct fit for voltage-reference and transient-clamping circuits where the regulation band is not critical. AEC-Q101 qualification and an operating junction range of -65°C to 175°C mean this part is screened for automotive under-hood and powertrain environments, as well as industrial gear where the ambient temperature can swing past 125°C. The 44 Ω maximum dynamic impedance (Zzt) is typical for a 28 V device at this power level — the regulation slope is modest but predictable over the operating current range.
Leakage and forward characteristics
Reverse leakage is specified at 100 nA maximum at 21 V — a guard-banded condition that confirms the diode holds off well below the 28 V knee. Forward voltage is 1.1 V maximum at 200 mA, a standard figure for a silicon zener of this die size.
Active production, automotive-grade traceability
The Tape & Box (TB) and Cut Tape (CT) packaging options cover both volume production and prototype reels.
