What the 1N6268A is and how it protects
The 1N6268A-E3/54: The 1N6268A-/54 is a unidirectional TransZorb® TVS diode in the 1.5KE series — a 1500 W peak pulse power device that clamps transient overvoltage away from the circuit it protects. That 11.3 V at 133 A is the spec that tells you what the downstream IC or rail actually sees during the event.
Standoff, breakdown, clamping — which spec decides your protection design
Reverse standoff of 6.4 V (typ) is the working voltage your rail sits below in normal operation — the diode leaks very little there, so it sits idle on the line. The 7.13 V minimum breakdown is where it starts to turn on; you size the standoff so normal operating peaks never reach it. For a 24 V rail protection clamp, you'd run the clamping voltage and peak current through the TVS's V-I curve to confirm the clamping ceiling stays within the downstream IC's transient-withstand spec.
