What the clamping ratings mean for the board
The 1N6268A-E3/51: The 6.4 V reverse standoff rating is the working rail the TVS sees in normal operation — the diode stays off and presents only nanosecond-scale leakage until a transient pushes it above this threshold. At 175 °C maximum junction temperature, the part has thermal headroom for spike trains in motor-drive or power-supply environments where inductive kickback is a regular event.
The DO-201AA (also called DO-27) axial leaded package mounts perpendicular to the PCB surface through plated-through holes — the leads are soldered in the conventional through-hole fashion and the body sits above the board. This form factor is larger than a SOT-23 or SOD-123 TVS, which means a larger die and higher peak pulse power rating (1500 W at 10/1000 µs) compared to sub-500 W surface-mount alternatives in the same voltage class. The bulk packaging option means the diodes ship as loose leads in a bag — reel or tape-and-reel packing is not listed, so confirm the quantity break and packaging expectation before committing to a BOM line.
