Standoff, breakdown, and clamping — what the voltage triplet means
The 1.5SMC7.5CA-E3/57T: The 1.5SMC7.5CA-/57T is a unidirectional Zener-based TVS diode in the 1.5SMC TransZorb® series — it clamps a single polarity, so the protected node sees the standoff voltage during normal operation and the clamping voltage only during a transient event. The standoff rating of 6.4V typ represents the working voltage the circuit runs at continuously; the breakdown minimum of 7.13V is where the device begins conducting sharply; the clamping maximum of 11.3V at 133A peak pulse (10/1000µs) is the voltage the downstream load actually sees when a surge hits — that figure, not the standoff, determines whether the protected circuitry survives. The 1500W peak pulse rating (1.5kW) is the power ceiling at that same waveform; it and the 133A figure are coupled through the clamping voltage rather than being independent selection knobs.
Thermal margin and junction temperature
The 1500W peak pulse rating is a single-event thermal impulse; a TVS that catches repeated surges without adequate cooling margin will shift its breakdown voltage over life.
The DO-214AB (SMCJ) package is the standard SMB foot pattern — it lands on a 3.72 × 2.50 mm pad with a 2.24 mm body height, compatible with standard pick-and-place and reflow profiles. Tape-and-reel and cut-tape packaging options serve both production-run reel feeding and low-volume rework or prototype kitting.
