Clamping performance for transient protection
The 1.5SMC7.5A-M3/9AT: The 1.5SMC7.5A clamps at 11.3 V maximum under a 133 A, 10/1000 µs surge — that combination of peak pulse current and clamping voltage is the number that tells you whether downstream circuitry survives a lightning or inductive kickback event. Rated 1500 W peak pulse in the 1.5SMC series — Vishay's TransZorb® construction gives the device defined clamping behavior under fast transients, not just a Zener threshold.
Thermal envelope and board integration
Junction temperature range is −65 to 150°C, which gives headroom above most industrial and outdoor ambient profiles — a 125°C ambient with the device absorbing a pulse still sits below the ceiling. DO-214AB (SMC) is the standard SMCJ footprint — reflow-solderable, tape-and-reel packaged for high-volume pick-and-place, and compatible with the same land pattern used across the broader 1.5SMC family. Single unidirectional channel — polarity matters on insertion; the cathode stripe marks the standoff (6.4 V typ) side and must face the line being protected.
