TVS Zener — 53V standoff, 1.5kW peak pulse
The 1.5SMC62AHE3/57T is a unidirectional Zener-type TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor), branded by Vishay as TransZorb®, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive environments. The reverse standoff of 53 V sets the normal operating rail it clamps above; when a transient exceeds the 58.9 V minimum breakdown, the device clamps at 85 V with a 17.6 A peak pulse (10/1000 µs). That 85 V clamping ceiling protects downstream circuitry on 48 V automotive power rails from surge events without letting the clamping voltage exceed the protected load's withstand rating.
1.5kW rating and 150 °C junction temperature
The 150 °C maximum junction temperature gives thermal headroom for engine-bay and chassis-mount deployments where ambient temperatures routinely sit above commercial grades; the part's own dissipation during clamping raises junction temperature above ambient, and the 150 °C ceiling is the derating floor for the design.
DO-214AB SMC — surface-mount automotive footprint
The DO-214AB (SMC) package is the standard JEDEC footprint for this power class of TVS — the two-lead layout mates with standard SMD pad patterns and reflows on a SnAgCu profile without special profiling. Tape-and-reel packaging supports high-volume assembly lines and automated tape-and-reel component placement.
