DO-214AB SMC footprint and board-fit
The 1.5SMC510AHE3_A/I: Surface-mount Zener TVS in the DO-214AB (SMCJ) package — the same footprint as the standard SMC. The 0.48 mm standoff height and 7.11 mm body length fit a standard 12 mm tape pocket; no special reel change needed on the pick-and-place line.
Clamping voltage and protection envelope
Reverse standoff is 434 V; breakdown starts at 485 V minimum. The clamp hits 698 V at the rated 2.15 A peak pulse current — that is the voltage the protected bus sees during a surge. A 434 V nominal rail (like a 400 VAC rectified bus) stays below the standoff in normal operation. Unidirectional — one channel, cathode to the protected rail, anode to ground. No power line protection (no bidirectional clamping), so it is a straight DC rail clamp, not an AC line protector.
Automotive-grade temp range and reliability
That covers under-hood ambient plus self-heating during a surge — the 150°C TJ rating gives margin on a 125°C engine-bay soak. Part of the TransZorb® series — Vishay's branded TVS line, known for tight clamping and fast response. The 'HE3' suffix marks the automotive AEC-Q101 screening and the lead-free, RoHS-compliant finish.
Vishay lists this part as Obsolete. The 1.5SMC series continues in production for other voltage variants, but this specific 510 V AEC-Q101 version has been discontinued. Quantities are lot-specific — confirmed at RFQ. No pin-compatible drop-in replacement from Vishay's current catalog; a functional substitute would need a different voltage grade or a non-automotive variant, which may require a board-level qualification.
