1500 W peak pulse, 434 V standoff — the rail-clamp decision
The 1.5SMC510A-M3/57T: When the clamp fires, the voltage is held to 698 V maximum at the rated 2.15 A peak pulse current — this is the ceiling the downstream silicon sees. A 600 V MOSFET with 800 V avalanche rating has margin; a 650 V part is at its edge and needs a lower-clamping TVS or a series resistor to split the energy.
