Clamping voltage stack — the three numbers that matter
The 1.5SMC36CAHM3_A/I: The reverse standoff voltage is 30.8V — this is the DC bus voltage the TVS blocks without conducting. Breakdown starts at 34.2V minimum, and the clamping voltage at peak pulse current is 49.9V max. For a 24V automotive rail that sees transients up to 40V, the 30.8V standoff gives margin above the nominal rail while the 49.9V clamp keeps the downstream silicon inside its abs-max rating. The 30.1A peak pulse current rating at that waveform tells you the TVS can sink a substantial fault without the junction exceeding its thermal limit.
