Transient protection ceiling for 30.8V DC rails
The 1.5SMC36A-M3/57T: Its 1500W peak pulse power rating (10/1000µs waveform) means it can absorb a 30.1A surge without failing, clamping the voltage to 49.9V maximum. That clamp ceiling protects downstream semiconductors rated for 50V or higher — a typical margin for 36V nominal bus applications. This makes it suitable for general-purpose circuit protection on 24V to 30V DC supplies where the steady-state rail stays below the standoff voltage.
The surface-mount body suits automated pick-and-place assembly, and the tape-and-reel packaging aligns with volume production reels. The single unidirectional channel means this diode protects one polarity rail; for AC or bidirectional lines, a different part from the same family would be needed. No power line protection feature is built in — this is a transient clamp, not a surge-rated MOV or GDT.
