Voltage thresholds and clamping behaviour
The 1.5SMC33A-M3/57T: Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 31.4 V, and the clamping voltage at peak pulse current is 45.7 V. That 45.7 V ceiling is what the downstream circuitry must survive; a 28 V-rated capacitor or IC with 50 V abs-max has comfortable margin. Rated for a 10/1000 µs exponential waveform, the 32.8 A peak pulse current is the maximum the diode can repeatedly handle without degradation. The operating temperature range of -65°C to 150°C covers military and industrial thermal profiles — no derating needed for most outdoor or engine-bay enclosures.
