1500 W automotive TVS — clamp voltage and AEC-Q101 grade
The Vishay 1.5SMC30AHM3_A/I is a 1500 W peak-pulse-power Zener TVS diode from the 1.5SMC TransZorb® family, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive applications. It clamps a 10/1000 µs surge to 41.4 V maximum at 36.2 A, with a 25.6 V reverse standoff and a 28.5 V minimum breakdown. The AEC-Q101 stamp means this part passed the automotive reliability stress suite — temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and ESD — so it fits under-hood or cabin electronics where a standard commercial TVS would not be accepted.
Clamping performance for telecom and automotive bus protection
For a 24 V automotive bus or a 28 V telecom rail, the 25.6 V standoff keeps the diode out of conduction during normal operation, while the 28.5 V minimum breakdown ensures it triggers before the downstream components exceed their rating. No power-line protection is built in — this is a transient suppressor for signal and low-power supply rails, not a mains-voltage clamp.
