The 23.1V reverse standoff voltage lets it sit on a nominal 24V DC rail without conducting leakage current under normal operation.
Clamping window and breakdown margin
Breakdown occurs between 25.7V minimum and the clamping ceiling of 37.5V. This window protects downstream electronics from load-dump and inductive kickback events common in automotive 24V systems, while the 40A peak pulse current rating handles direct battery-line surges. The single bidirectional channel means the same device clamps positive and negative transients symmetrically — useful on AC-coupled signal lines or power rails where polarity reversal is possible.
