1.5 kW transient suppressor for 171 V DC rails
The 1.5SMC200A-M3/57T: When the voltage exceeds the 190 V minimum breakdown threshold, the device avalanches and conducts the surge current, holding the clamp at 274 V maximum — the voltage the downstream components actually see during the event. The DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package suits reflow assembly and keeps the thermal path short to the PCB copper for heat spreading.
Clamping voltage and standoff margin
The 190 V minimum breakdown voltage (VBR) provides a 19 V guard band above the rail — enough to ride through normal line ripple without nuisance triggering. That 274 V is the hard limit the protected circuit sees; the designer sizes the downstream capacitor voltage rating and the DC-DC converter input range against this ceiling. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction, covering cold-start automotive and hot industrial cabinet environments. Power derating above 25°C follows the standard exponential curve — at 150°C the device handles roughly 20% of the 1500 W rating.
