AEC-Q101 TransZorb for 24V automotive bus protection
The 1.5SMC180CAHM3_A/I: It clamps transients on 24V nominal power rails — the 154V reverse standoff voltage sits well above a 24V system's maximum operating voltage, so it stays out of the way during normal running. The single bidirectional channel protects both polarities, which simplifies BOM consolidation — one part covers positive and negative transients on the same line.
Clamping window and pulse current handling
The breakdown voltage range starts at 171V minimum, clamping at 246V maximum at the 6.1A peak pulse current. That 75V window between standoff and clamp gives the downstream circuitry a predictable survival envelope — a 24V ECU with 250V-rated input capacitors has margin above the clamp ceiling. Operating from -65°C to 150°C junction temperature, the part stays within spec across the full automotive temperature profile. The DO-214AB (SMC) package's copper leadframe pulls heat into the board pad — the rework tech will appreciate that the body is large enough to hand-solder with a standard iron if needed, though the preferred method is reflow per the solder profile in the product drawing.
Active production, sourced per RFQ
Available through independent distribution channels. The Tape & Reel packaging (standard for the SMC footprint) feeds pick-and-place without a feeder change.
