Active production, automotive-grade TVS for 154V rails
The 1.5SMC180CAHM3_A/H: Its 154V reverse standoff voltage and 171V minimum breakdown voltage make it a fit for protecting 120VAC rectified or 170VDC telecom bus lines against transients. AEC-Q101 qualification sets this part apart from the commercial 1.5SMC180CA — it is screened for automotive-grade reliability, including the -65°C to 150°C junction temperature range that covers under-hood and outdoor telecom enclosures.
Clamping voltage and pulse current — the protection envelope
When a transient exceeds the 154V standoff, the TVS clamps at 246V maximum while conducting 6.1A peak pulse current. The 1500W rating means the device absorbs that energy without failing — the clamping voltage times the pulse current equals the power rating. Single bidirectional channel covers both positive and negative transients in one DO-214AB (SMC) package, saving board space compared to two unidirectional diodes back-to-back. The SMC footprint is standard and reflow-compatible with typical lead-free profiles.
Sourcing and stock position
The Tape & Reel packaging (standard for the 1.5SMC series) feeds directly into pick-and-place lines. Store the reels dry — the DO-214AB body is not moisture-sensitive per JEDEC level 1, but the carrier tape can absorb humidity in long-term storage.
