AEC-Q101 TVS for 145 V rails
The 1.5SMC170AHE3/9AT: The DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package supports automated assembly, and the -65°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers under-hood and engine-bay thermal profiles without derating.
Clamping voltage and pulse current
At the 145 V standoff level, the device remains non-conducting under normal operating conditions. When a transient exceeds the breakdown voltage (162 V min), the Zener clamps at 234 V max, shunting up to 6.4 A of peak pulse current. The 1500 W peak pulse rating means the diode absorbs the transient energy without exceeding the junction temperature limit — a key parameter for selecting the right TVS for a given surge waveform. The AEC-Q101 qualification includes temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and ESD sensitivity testing per the automotive stress criteria. This part is intended for 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V automotive bus protection where the nominal rail voltage stays below 145 V.
