AEC-Q101 bidirectional TVS for 12 V automotive rails
The 1.5SMC15CAHM3/H: It clamps transients on 12 V nominal supply lines — the 12.8 V reverse standoff voltage sits above the battery's steady-state range, so it does not conduct during normal operation. The breakdown voltage range starts at 14.3 V minimum, ensuring the avalanche region is entered before the downstream IC's abs-max rating is exceeded.
The junction temperature range spans -65 °C to +150 °C, covering the full automotive under-hood and passenger-compartment thermal profile. The AEC-Q101 qualification includes the full suite of stress tests — temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and ESD robustness — required for tier-one ECU programs. No power line protection is integrated; the device is a standalone transient suppressor for signal and low-power supply rails.
