Transient protection for 12 V rails
The 1.5SMC15CA-E3/57T: The 1.5SMC15CA-/57T is a bidirectional TVS diode from Vishay's TransZorb® series, designed to clamp transients on 12 V nominal power rails. The 70.8 A peak pulse current rating at the clamping voltage of 21.2 V gives the designer a clear Ipp budget for the surge waveform.
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, the device is surface-mount and occupies a standard footprint shared across the 1.5SMC family. Operating temperature spans -65°C to +150°C junction, covering automotive under-hood and industrial enclosure thermal extremes without derating concerns at the board level.
As a general-purpose component, it carries no power-line protection rating (not for AC mains primary protection), but it is suitable for secondary-side DC rail clamping in power supplies, signal lines, and I/O ports.
