Transient protection for 12 V automotive rails
The 1.5SMC15AHM3/I: With a 12.8 V reverse standoff voltage and a 14.3 V minimum breakdown, it clamps at 21.2 V max while conducting 70.8 A peak pulse current — sized to protect 12 V nominal automotive power buses from load-dump and inductive kickback transients. The DO-214AB (SMC) package supports reflow assembly and carries the same footprint as other 1.5SMC devices, so a single PCB layout can accommodate a range of standoff voltages across the family.
AEC-Q101 qualification and temperature range
The -65°C to +150°C junction temperature range covers underhood and engine-bay thermal profiles with margin. The series designation includes TransZorb® — Vishay's trademark for silicon-avalanche TVS diodes designed for repetitive surge handling without performance degradation.
Sourcing and compliance posture
The base product number is 1.5SMC15; the full order code includes the suffix that denotes the AEC-Q101 automotive grade and tape-and-reel packaging. RoHS and REACH compliance documentation is available from Vishay upon request.
