Active AEC-Q101 TVS for 12V automotive rails
The 1.5SMC12CAHE3/57T is an active-production bidirectional TVS diode from Vishay's 1.5SMC TransZorb series, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive use. It clamps transients on a 12V nominal rail — the 10.2V reverse standoff sits above the battery's steady-state voltage, so it does not conduct during normal operation, while the 11.4V minimum breakdown triggers before the downstream electronics see damaging overvoltage. The 16.7V clamping voltage at that current keeps the protected node below the abs-max rating of most 12V-rated ICs.
Package and board-fit for DO-214AB
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, this TVS shares the same footprint as the SMCJ industry-standard outline. The surface-mount body suits reflow assembly, and the wide -65°C to +150°C junction temperature range covers under-hood ambient plus self-heating from repetitive pulse events. No power-line protection function is built in, so it is intended for signal or low-side power rail clamping, not mains-level AC protection.
