The 1.5SMC12AHM3_A/H: The 10.2 V standoff directly suits 12 V vehicle electrical systems — it stays transparent during normal battery voltage (12-14 V) and only conducts when a transient pushes the line above the breakdown threshold of 11.4 V minimum. The 16.7 V clamp ensures downstream electronics see a voltage well below typical 24 V load-dump survival limits.
Package and board-fit
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the part occupies the standard footprint for 1.5 kW TVS diodes. The copper pad area under the cathode tab sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance — a 25 mm² pad on 2 oz copper keeps RθJA near 75 °C/W, adequate for repetitive pulse trains at moderate duty cycles. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction, covering under-hood and outdoor telecom enclosures without derating the peak pulse power at elevated ambient.
