Active production, AEC-Q101 qualified
The 1.5SMC120CAHM3_A/I: It carries AEC-Q101 automotive qualification, meaning the device has passed the full suite of reliability stress tests for under-hood and chassis-mounted electronics: temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and ESD sensitivity per the automotive-grade discrete semiconductor standard.
165V clamping, 9.1A peak pulse current
For a 100V bus, the 65V of headroom between the rail and the clamp point gives the downstream silicon enough margin to survive without secondary protection. The bidirectional channel means the same device clamps positive and negative transients symmetrically — useful on AC-coupled data lines or bipolar supply rails where polarity is not fixed. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction, covering the full automotive temperature envelope from cold-crank to engine-bay soak-back.
DO-214AB SMC package — rework and board-fit
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, this TVS has a large copper tab on the cathode side that wicks heat into the PCB copper pour. The package body is large enough to hand-rework with hot air without lifting pads — the key is preheating the board to 100°C before hitting the joint with 350°C air so the solder reflows before the epoxy cracks. Supplied on Tape & Reel, compatible with standard pick-and-place for volume assembly. The orientation mark on the body indicates the cathode band — for a bidirectional part both directions clamp identically, but the band still identifies pin 1 for the reel orientation.
