1.5kW bidirectional TVS for 12V automotive rails
The 1.5SMC10CAHM3_A/I: It is a single-chip bidirectional device, so one DO-214AB SMC package replaces two unidirectional TVS in back-to-back configuration, saving board area.
Clamping voltage and surge current at the BOM line
The 14.5V maximum clamping voltage at 103A peak pulse current defines the voltage the downstream circuitry sees during a surge. For a 12V bus, this clamp leaves margin below typical 16V-rated input capacitors and 20V-rated DC-DC converters. The 9.5V minimum breakdown voltage ensures the device starts conducting before the rail exceeds the safe operating area of the protected load.
Lifecycle and supply posture
This is a standard-production Vishay TransZorb® part, not a custom or phased-out code, so it remains orderable through authorized distribution channels. The tape-and-reel packaging suits automated pick-and-place assembly; store reels in dry conditions per JEDEC MSL level (typically Level 1 for this package, but verify the reel label).
