DO-214AB package, 1500 W pulse — what the ratings mean on the bench
The 1.5SMC100CAHE3/9AT: Package is DO-214AB (SMC), the larger of the common SMC footprints. The copper tab on the bottom side is the cathode for a unidirectional part; here it is bidirectional, so polarity marking is irrelevant — orientation does not matter for the clamp. The tab area sets the thermal impedance to the board; a solid copper pour under the part pulls heat from the 1500 W pulse into the PCB plane. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction — the full automotive under-hood range with margin. The AEC-Q101 qualification means it passed the automotive stress tests: temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and humidity bias. No power line protection (it is a transient suppressor, not a crowbar).
Active production, AEC-Q101 trace
The part carries the full AEC-Q101 automotive qualification, which includes PPAP documentation on request. RoHS compliance is standard for this series; no separate RoHS cert is listed in the spec table, but the TransZorb family is generally RoHS-compliant per Vishay's material declaration. For this exact 85.5 V standoff, the 1.5SMC100CAHE3/9AT is the active order code.
