TransZorb bidirectional TVS — 1.5 kW, 7.78 V standoff
The 1.5KE9.1CA-E3/54: Breakdown occurs at 8.65 V minimum, so the diode stays out of conduction below that threshold and only clamps when a surge pushes the line past the rail's normal tolerance. The single bidirectional channel handles both positive and negative transients in one package.
Peak pulse current and thermal envelope
The 1500 W rating is the product of clamp voltage and peak current — a 13.4 V clamp × 112 A equals the rated power, so the diode absorbs that energy without exceeding its junction temperature limit of 175 °C. Power line protection is not supported — this is a signal-rail or low-voltage bus protector, not a mains transient suppressor.
Through-hole axial package and board integration
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, the 1.5KE9.1CA-/54 mounts through-hole on the PCB. The axial body sits above the board, so the leads carry the surge current into the die — keep the trace width from the pad to the rail wide enough to handle the 112 A pulse without fusing the copper. The base product number 1.5KE9.1 identifies the voltage family; the CA suffix marks the bidirectional version.
