The 1.5KE82CA-E3/54: The 1.5KE82CA-/54 is a 1500 W peak-pulse-power bidirectional TVS from Vishay's TransZorb series, clamping transients at 113 V for a 13.3 A pulse (10/1000 µs waveform). The 70.1 V reverse standoff means it sits across a 48 V or 60 V rail without conducting in normal operation; the 77.9 V minimum breakdown triggers only on an overvoltage event.

Bidirectional clamping for signal and power rails

A single bidirectional device handles both polarities of a transient — useful on AC-coupled data lines or floating power buses where the surge can swing either direction. The 1.5KE82CA clamps symmetrically at 113 V, so a single part replaces two unidirectional TVS diodes in anti-series.
