What this TVS covers and where it fits
The Vishay 1.5KE8.2CA/54 is a 1500W bidirectional TransZorb® TVS diode in a DO-201AA axial package – a standard through-hole suppressor for clamping transients on 5V or 12V rails in industrial control, telecom, and general-purpose circuit protection.
Obsolete – sourcing reality
The DO-201AA footprint is common, so a functional replacement from another manufacturer with the same 1500W rating and bidirectional configuration is possible, but pin-compatibility is not guaranteed without a board-level review.
Key ratings for the BOM line
Reverse standoff voltage is 7.02V – the TVS does not conduct at normal rail voltage up to that level. Breakdown voltage starts at 7.79V, so a 5V or 6V rail stays protected without leakage. Clamping at 12.1V means the downstream circuitry sees a maximum of 12.1V across the TVS during a 124A surge – this protects 12V-rated components from exceeding their abs-max. The 1500W peak pulse rating (1.5kW) is the energy-handling capacity for a 10/1000µs waveform – derate for shorter pulses or higher ambient temperature per the datasheet curve.
