What the 1500 W rating means on the bench
The 1.5KE7.5A-E3/51: The 1.5KE7.5A-/51 is a 1500 W peak-pulse-power TransZorb Zener TVS diode from Vishay, rated for a 6.4 V reverse standoff and clamping at 11.3 V when hit with a 133 A, 10/1000 µs surge. That 1500 W figure is the maximum dissipation for a 1 ms pulse — it does not mean the part handles 1500 W continuously. On a 12 V rail, this clamps a transient well below the downstream regulator's abs-max, so the board survives a load-dump event without the regulator letting go.
Vishay has flagged this part as Last Buy. That means the manufacturer is winding down production — there is a finite window to place final orders before it goes end-of-life.
Package and rework reality
Through-hole DO-201AA (also DO-27) axial package — two leads, no orientation ambiguity. The body is epoxy-encapsulated with a tin-plated copper lead frame. Rework is straightforward: clip the leads, desolder the stubs, and solder in a fresh part. No hot-air station needed, no pad-lifting risk.
