Breakdown and clamping — the fit decision
The 1.5KE68CAHE3_A/D: Minimum breakdown voltage is 64.6 V, so the diode starts conducting (and clamping) once the transient exceeds that threshold. The 92 V maximum clamp at 16.3 A defines the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive — a 60 V nominal bus with a 90 V abs-max input can use this part; a 48 V bus with 80 V abs-max cannot.
Through-hole DO-201AA (DO-27) axial package — the leads are 0.96 mm diameter, fitting a 1.0 mm PCB hole. The body is 5.3 mm diameter by 7.5 mm long; lead spacing is 10.2 mm nominal. No special pad geometry beyond the standard axial-lead footprint. Tape & Box (TB) packaging means the parts are loaded in ammo-pack for axial-lead insertion machines, not tape-and-reel. Hand-insertion is straightforward; the leads are tinned and solder readily with a standard iron.
Sourcing and compliance
The series is RoHS-compliant and AEC-Q101 qualified.
