Clamping voltage, standoff, and breakdown — the three numbers that decide fit
The reverse standoff voltage is 43.6 V — this is the DC or peak-AC voltage the protected line can carry without the diode conducting. At 48.5 V minimum breakdown the device starts to avalanche, and clamping is guaranteed at 70.1 V maximum, so a 48 V bus or a 42 V nominal rail with transients up to 70 V is the intended operating envelope. The 1.5 kW rating is derated linearly above 25°C per the datasheet curve.
Through-hole axial package — board-fit note
The 1.5KE suffix on the supplier device package indicates the full 1.5 kW die inside the same body size used across the series. Power line protection is not supported (the diode is intended for signal and DC rail clamping, not AC mains).
