1500 W TransZorb — the clamping voltage that decides the rail protection
The 1.5KE51A-E3/54: Its 43.6 V reverse standoff sits just below a 48 V nominal rail, so it stays out of conduction during normal operation and only clamps when the line sees a transient above 48.5 V breakdown. The 70.1 V clamp at 21.4 A peak pulse current defines the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive — a 48 V bus with a 75 V absolute-max input stage has margin here, but a 60 V-rated part would be at risk.
Through-hole axial — the package that survives the surge
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, the 1.5KE51A-/54 mounts through-hole. The large body and thick leads carry the thermal pulse of a 1500 W event without lifting the junction above the 175 °C maximum — the same package used across the TransZorb family for consistent surge handling.
