Transient suppressor for 34.8V rails
The 1.5KE43C-E3/73: The Vishay 1.5KE43C-/73 is a bidirectional TransZorb® TVS diode clamping at 61.9V max with a 24.2A peak pulse current rating (10/1000µs waveform). The 34.8V reverse standoff voltage means it sits across a 24V or 28V DC rail without conducting in normal operation, only clamping when a transient pushes the line above the 38.7V minimum breakdown threshold. The bidirectional configuration — a single device replaces back-to-back Zeners — simplifies layout on AC-coupled or bipolar signal lines.
Through-hole package and temperature range
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package for through-hole mounting, the part reworks cleanly — the leads are long enough to dress into plated holes without stressing the glass passivation junction. The axial body is polarity-marked with a cathode band for the unidirectional version; the bidirectional variant (C suffix) has no band, so orientation in the board is non-critical. The 1.5KE package footprint matches standard 0.100-inch lead spacing — no special pad geometry required.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Vishay lists the 1.5KE43C-/73 as obsolete. No direct replacement is documented in the lifecycle record — the part is no longer manufactured and has no official successor order code from Vishay. For BOM lines already qualified to this specific TVS, the only supply path is through independent distribution holding surplus or end-of-life inventory. Availability and pricing are confirmed at RFQ — each lot is traceable back to the original Vishay date code and tested per the datasheet limits before shipment.
