1500W bidirectional TVS for 33.3V automotive rails
The 1.5KE39CAHE3_A/D is a 1500W bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Vishay's TransZorb® series, rated for 33.3V reverse standoff with a breakdown voltage range starting at 37.1V. The -55°C to 175°C operating junction range covers the engine bay thermal profile with margin.
Clamping and pulse handling
The 53.9V maximum clamping voltage at 27.8A peak pulse current defines the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive. For a 33.3V rail, this gives roughly 20V of headroom above the nominal bus — typical for 12V and 24V automotive systems where load-dump and inductive kick transients can exceed 40V. The bidirectional configuration means a single device clamps both positive and negative surges — no polarity concern on AC or floating DC lines.
Package and board integration
Supplied in the DO-201AA (DO-27) axial through-hole package, the 1.5KE39CAHE3_A/D mounts with leads formed for PCB insertion or point-to-point wiring. The through-hole body handles the thermal pulse of a 1500W transient better than a comparable SMD package — the lead frame and glass passivated junction sink heat into the board copper. Packaged in Tape & Box (TB), suitable for hand-insertion or selective soldering processes. The base product number 1.5KE39 covers the full family; the HE3 suffix denotes the AEC-Q101 automotive grade with the high-reliability screening.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
The sealed-reel packaging with consistent date codes supports lot traceability for automotive PPAP requirements.
