1500W automotive-grade transient suppressor
The 1.5KE36HE3/73 is a 1500W peak pulse power Zener TVS diode from Vishay's automotive TransZorb® series, qualified to AEC-Q101 for use in engine bay, chassis, and body electronics where load-dump and inductive-load transients are a given. With a 52V maximum clamping voltage at 28.8A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform), it holds a 29.1V reverse standoff — meaning a 24V nominal rail sees protection up to the clamp threshold before the diode conducts hard.
What the ratings mean for the BOM line
The 32.4V minimum breakdown voltage and 29.1V reverse standoff define the operating window: a 24V battery bus or 28V regulated rail stays below the standoff in normal conditions, and the diode starts clamping above 32.4V, protecting downstream electronics from alternator load-dump or relay kickback. The DO-201AA axial package is a through-hole form factor that handles the 1500W pulse without board delamination — the lead bend and body length match standard 0.4-inch pitch layouts, so it drops into existing TVS footprints without a board spin. Rated for continuous junction temperature from -55°C to 175°C, this diode survives under-hood thermal cycling and high-side drive self-heating — the 175°C ceiling is the same as the AEC-Q101 Grade 0 limit, giving margin in a 105°C ambient engine compartment.
