Automotive TVS Zener — 1500W pulse, 28.2V standoff
The Vishay 1.5KE33AHE3_B/C is a 1500W (1.5kW) peak-pulse power Zener TVS diode in the TransZorb® series, designed to clamp transients on 28.2V nominal rails in automotive and telecom equipment. The DO-201AA axial package is a through-hole form factor suitable for point-of-use transient suppression on power input lines or high-side bus rails where board space is not the constraint.
Reverse standoff voltage is 28.2V — the TVS does not conduct at normal bus voltage up to that level. Breakdown starts at 31.4V minimum, so a 28V rail with ±5% tolerance stays below the conduction threshold. Maximum clamping voltage is 45.7V at 34A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform). That 45.7V ceiling protects downstream 40V-rated MOSFETs or regulators from avalanche stress during a load-dump or inductive kickback event. Single unidirectional channel — polarity matters; the cathode band on the DO-201AA body must face the rail being protected. No power line protection feature means the diode does not filter continuous overvoltage; it only clamps fast transients.
