1500 W peak pulse in a DO-201AA axial package
The 1.5KE27-E3/54: The Vishay 1.5KE27-/54 is a 1500 W TransZorb® TVS diode, Zener type, designed to clamp transients on general-purpose DC rails. Its 21.8 V reverse standoff voltage means it sits across a 24 V nominal bus without conducting; when a surge hits, the breakdown triggers at 24.3 V minimum and the diode clamps the voltage to 39.1 V maximum while shunting 38.4 A of peak pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform). The DO-201AA axial package (also known as DO-27) is a through-hole form factor — it inserts into a PCB hole and is wave-soldered, making it a common choice for bulkier transient protection on power entry boards, industrial control inputs, and telecom line cards where surface-mount TVS devices might lack the surge capacity.
Clamping parametrics and temperature envelope
The junction temperature range spans -55°C to +175°C, which covers both cold-start conditions and the self-heating from repetitive surges — the 1500 W rating is derated above 25°C, so a board in a 85°C ambient sees roughly half the peak pulse capability. With a single unidirectional channel, this part protects one rail; for bidirectional or AC-line clamping, two devices are wired back-to-back or a dedicated bidirectional TransZorb is selected.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Vishay has marked the 1.5KE27-/54 as obsolete. Buyers should verify date code and lot traceability at time of order.
