Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Vishay has marked the 1.5KE220CHE3/54 as obsolete. Availability is lot-specific; quantities and date codes are confirmed at RFQ time.
1500W peak pulse — the clamping envelope
The 1.5KE220CHE3/54 is a 1500W (1.5kW) peak pulse power TVS diode in the TransZorb series, built for automotive environments and qualified to AEC-Q101. The 1500W rating at 10/1000µs waveform means it can absorb a 4.4A peak pulse current and clamp it to 344V maximum. The 175V reverse standoff voltage is the maximum DC or AC peak voltage the diode lets pass without conducting — put it on a 175V nominal rail and it sits transparent until a transient exceeds the 198V minimum breakdown voltage. The 344V clamp is the ceiling: downstream components rated for 350V or higher survive the clamped event.
Bidirectional — one device, both polarities
A single bidirectional channel clamps transients of either polarity — no need for two diodes back-to-back. This simplifies the PCB layout on AC-coupled or bipolar signal lines where the transient can ring positive or negative. The DO-201AA axial package is a through-hole leaded form factor — it survives reflow soldering without MSL concerns and is easy to hand-replace in rework.
