1.5 kW clamping diode for 185 V rails
The 1.5KE220CA/54: Breakdown occurs between 209 V minimum and the clamping ceiling — the diode conducts the 4.6 A peak pulse current away from the load during a surge event. The single bidirectional channel handles both polarities, so no polarity orientation is needed on the PCB.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Vishay lists the 1.5KE220CA/54 as obsolete. Available through independent distribution on a quoted-to-order basis.
Package and temperature range
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, through-hole mount. The junction operates from -55°C to 175°C, covering industrial and automotive under-hood ambient conditions without derating the peak pulse power at high temperature. The 1.5 kW rating is specified at 25°C; derate linearly above that per the datasheet curve. For a 185 V rail in a motor-drive or power-supply input stage, this diode absorbs the inductive kickback or lightning surge that exceeds the downstream regulator's abs-max.
