AEC-Q101 TVS for 12V/24V automotive bus clamping
The Vishay 1.5KE150AHE3_A/D is a 1500 W peak pulse power TransZorb® TVS diode, part of the automotive-grade AEC-Q101 qualified series.
What the voltage ratings mean for the BOM
The breakdown voltage range starts at 143 V min — the point where avalanche conduction begins. The 7.2 A peak pulse current at the clamping voltage confirms the diode can absorb the energy from a typical load-dump or inductive kickback transient without failing short. This is not a commercial-grade part dressed up for automotive — the 175°C junction rating is the genuine high-temp band.
Package and board-level integration
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead through-hole package, the 1.5KE150AHE3_A/D mounts with formed leads through the board or into a chassis-mount clip. The axial body is rated for the full 1500 W pulse without derating when the leads are soldered into a standard 0.100-inch pitch hole pattern. The supplier device package code is 1.5KE — this is the standard TransZorb® footprint shared across the 1.5KE series, so the PCB layout is identical for any voltage variant within the family.
AEC-Q101 qualification means the part ships with PPAP documentation and traceability data on request — the OEM auditor will accept this as a drop-in for any automotive-grade TVS position.
