1500 W automotive-grade transient suppressor
The Vishay 1.5KE130CAHE3_A/D is a bidirectional TransZorb TVS diode from the Automotive series, qualified to AEC-Q101 for use in engine bay, chassis, and body electronics where temperature cycling and repetitive surge stress are the norm. With a 111 V reverse standoff voltage, this TVS blocks continuous DC or peak AC up to that level without conducting leakage current. The minimum breakdown voltage is 124 V, and the clamping voltage is held to 179 V at the rated 8.4 A peak pulse current. The margin between the protected rail's absolute maximum rating and the 179 V clamp determines whether the downstream silicon survives the event.
Junction temperature and package limits
The operating junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C, covering cold-crank starts at -40°C and sustained under-hood ambient above 125°C. The 175°C ceiling is the die's thermal limit; derating the peak pulse power above 25°C follows the standard exponential curve in the datasheet. The DO-201AA / DO-27 axial-lead package is a through-hole body that handles the 1500 W pulse without the thermal constraints of a surface-mount package. The axial leads can be formed for PCB mounting or wired point-to-point in a harness — the lead length and bend radius affect the inductance seen by the transient, so keep the leads short to minimise the voltage overshoot above the clamp.
