Single-channel photocoupler for isolated signal paths
The Toshiba TLP185(BLL-TR,SE is a single-channel photocoupler with a DC input LED and a phototransistor output, housed in a 6-SOIC surface-mount package with 4 leads. Key features include a current transfer ratio (CTR) range of 200% to 400% at 5mA forward current, a maximum output voltage of 80V, and a continuous output current of 50mA per channel.
3750Vrms isolation and temperature range — fit for harsh environments
Rated for 3750Vrms isolation, this photocoupler meets basic insulation requirements for many industrial and consumer applications where safety isolation between low-voltage control and higher-voltage power circuits is needed.
Switching speed and drive margins
The 200% to 400% CTR range at 5mA forward current provides good margin for LED drive current selection and accounts for CTR degradation over life; a 5mA forward current yields a guaranteed minimum output drive of 10mA (200% of 5mA). Vce saturation is 300mV max, keeping power dissipation low in the output transistor.
The tape-and-reel (TR) and cut-tape (CT) packaging options suit both high-volume pick-and-place and prototype builds.
