16-DIP through-hole — breadboard and legacy BOM fit
The TC74HC4051APF ships in a 16-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package, supplied in Tube. This footprint mates directly with standard DIP sockets or solder-in on prototype boards — no re-spin needed for designs already using 300-mil DIP analog switches.
8:1 mux with 100 Ohm Ron and dual-supply flexibility
The 8:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit selects one of eight analog inputs to a common output. On-state resistance is 100 Ohm max, with channel-to-channel matching of 5 Ohm — the matching figure matters for gain-error budgets in precision analog paths. Supply range covers single 2V to 6V or dual ±2V to ±6V, so the same part works in a 3.3V single-rail system or a ±5V analog front-end. Switching times are 18ns (Ton) and 29ns (Toff) typical — fast enough for audio multiplexing and moderate-speed data acquisition. Crosstalk is -50dB at 1MHz, and the -3dB bandwidth extends to 85MHz. For a 20kHz audio band, the crosstalk floor is well below the noise of most codecs; the bandwidth supports composite video or high-speed digital muxing up to tens of megahertz.
Active lifecycle, ROHS3 — no LTB risk
Leakage current is 100nA max (IS(off)), and channel capacitance is 2pF (CS(off)) and 70pF (CD(off)) — the off-capacitance at the drain side is higher, so the mux topology and load impedance affect the settling time in sample-and-hold circuits.
