Flyback controller for 65 W isolated AC-DC supplies
The UCC28610D is a current-mode flyback PWM controller from Texas Instruments, designed for offline isolated power supplies up to 65 W. It operates without an internal power switch — an external MOSFET handles the primary switching, giving the designer control over the FET selection for the target efficiency and thermal budget. The controller integrates fault protection including current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage protection, which reduces external component count in the protection loop. Output isolation is inherent to the flyback topology, and the device supports primary-side regulation schemes that can eliminate the optocoupler in some designs. Switching frequency is programmable from 30 kHz to 133 kHz, allowing the transformer size to be traded against switching losses. The startup threshold is 10.2 V, with an operating Vcc range of 8 V to 25 V, suiting universal AC input applications (85-265 VAC) after the bulk capacitor.
8-SOIC package and thermal performance
The tube packaging is typical for prototype and low-volume builds. For reel quantities, confirm the packing option with the supplier at RFQ — the controller itself is the same silicon regardless of delivery format.
No minimum order quantity restrictions beyond standard distributor terms.
