Why 5A peak drive matters for your half-bridge
The UCC27624DGNR delivers 5A peak source and 5A peak sink current — enough to slam a large N-channel MOSFET gate through the Miller plateau fast enough to keep switching loss in check. A driver that can't supply that current will stretch the rise and fall edges, and you'll watch the die temperature climb on every transition. Rise time is 6ns typical, fall time 10ns typical. Those edges are clean enough that you won't need an external gate resistor to damp ringing in most layouts, but mind the loop inductance — a sloppy layout still oscillates.
Supply range and temperature headroom
Supply voltage spans 4.5V to 26V. That covers 5V logic rails, 12V industrial buses, and 24V truck/machine supplies without a secondary regulator — one less part on the BOM. That is 25°C higher than many competing drivers (e.g., LM5106MM/NOPB at 125°C). In a motor-drive or battery-charger enclosure where ambient air hits 85°C, that extra margin keeps the part out of thermal shutdown.
Package and footprint note
The 8-HVSSOP is a 3.00mm × 3.00mm body with 0.65mm pin pitch — a small footprint that still gives you two independent low-side channels.
