5 A sink peak — sizing the gate drive for big FETs
The UCC27532DBVR is a single-channel low-side gate driver from TI, designed to drive IGBTs and N-channel MOSFETs. Its 2.5 A source and 5 A sink peak output current handle the gate charge of large-die power switches — think paralleled TO-247 FETs or a 100 A IGBT module — without the driver entering current limit during the Miller plateau.

With a typical 15 ns rise time and 7 ns fall time, the driver transitions the gate voltage fast enough to keep crossover losses low in hard-switched topologies. The asymmetric edge speeds favour the turn-off path — the 5 A sink pulls the gate down harder than the 2.5 A source pushes it up, which helps clamp shoot-through in half-bridge designs.
