4A peak drive in an 8-PDIP — what it buys you
The UCC27323P is a dual low-side MOSFET driver from Texas Instruments that delivers 4A peak source and 4A peak sink current per channel, enough to drive the gate capacitance of a large TO-220 or TO-247 power MOSFET through the Miller plateau without excessive switching loss. Each channel operates independently with inverting input logic, so a single device can drive one N-channel and one P-channel MOSFET in a complementary stage, or two N-channel devices with separate PWM signals. The 20 ns typical rise time and 15 ns typical fall time keep cross-conduction dead-time short in hard-switched topologies, which matters for efficiency in 100 kHz to 500 kHz converters.
Temperature range that covers the harsh stuff
The 4.5 V to 15 V supply range means it can run from a 5 V bias rail or a 12 V gate-drive bus without an extra regulator, simplifying the power tree in multi-rail systems.
Through-hole package — prototyping and low-volume fit
The 8-pin PDIP package (0.300-inch body width, 2.54 mm pitch) is a through-hole footprint that sockets easily for breadboard testing and survives manual rework without lifted pads — a practical choice for development kits, lab power supplies, and low-to-mid volume production runs.
