What this driver does on your board
The UCC27321P is a single-channel low-side gate driver from Texas Instruments, built to switch N-channel or P-channel MOSFETs with a 9A peak source and sink current. Its 20ns typical rise and fall time means the gate charges fast enough to keep switching losses low in a 100-500 kHz SMPS or motor-drive stage, but the 8-DIP package limits the layout to through-hole prototyping or low-volume production runs. The inverting input flips the logic sense — a high on the input turns the output low, and vice versa — which matters when the PWM controller output polarity does not match the power-stage topology.
Supply voltage spans 4V to 15V, covering 5V and 12V bias rails commonly found in industrial control panels and telecom bricks. Logic thresholds are 1.1V (VIL) and 2.7V (VIH), so a 3.3V or 5V microcontroller output drives it directly without a level shifter.
The 8-PDIP through-hole package with 0.300" (7.62mm) body width is a standard DIP footprint — no fine-pitch alignment, no moisture sensitivity level concern on the line. Supplied in tube, which is the typical carrier for through-hole parts; the tube quantity matches standard DIP-8 pick-and-place feeder tubes if your EMS supports tube-fed insertion.
