Fast gate drive for N- and P-channel MOSFETs
The Texas Instruments UC3708NE is a dual low-side gate driver delivering 3 A peak source and sink current with 25 ns typical rise and fall times, designed to drive both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs in switching power supplies and motor control circuits. With two independent, non-inverting channels, it can drive a half-bridge pair or two separate MOSFETs from a single 5 V to 35 V supply rail, covering common logic and intermediate bus voltages.
Switching speed and drive strength
The 3 A peak output capability charges and discharges the MOSFET gate capacitance quickly, minimizing the time spent in the linear region and reducing switching losses in the driven transistor. A 25 ns rise and fall time at the driver output means the gate voltage transitions through the Miller plateau in tens of nanoseconds, which is critical for keeping the switching node dv/dt under control in high-frequency converters.
The 16-PDIP supplier package has a standard 0.100-inch pin spacing, fitting into common DIP sockets or soldering directly into plated through-holes on a 0.062-inch thick PCB.
The commercial temperature grade of 0°C to 70°C limits deployment to indoor, controlled-environment equipment such as benchtop power supplies, server power stages, and industrial control cabinets without extreme thermal cycling.
